Snow Crash

Snow Crash was written back in the 90's by Neal Stephenson, I first read it sometime in high school and have been a fan of Stephenson ever since.

The novel follows a pizza delivery/hacker/sword fighter protagonist named appropriately, Hiro Protagonist.  There is also a skateboard chick, and angry guy with a nuke strapped to his motorcycle.

The setting is cyberpunk, with Stephenson's version of a future internet, a virtual reality where Hiro spends much of his time.  Hiro stumbles across a drug/virus known as "Snow Crash", which leads him on an investigation of languages and Sumerian culture.

The story may not be the most serious thing ever written but it is very enjoyable and often quite funny.  Stephenson has gone on to write a number of newer books which are very good, but this is still his most condensed and enjoyable work.

9.2/10
